With 3D programming, we can design for you.
Before we talk about the type of fabric, colors or specific features, we would like to get to know your bike first. We use a 3D programme to design and adjust our blueprint for your perfect bag. To make that possible, we need two things:
a picture from the non driveside side of your frame. (just like the picture above. Please make the picture as much perpendicular as possible with your handheld camera.
the inner-length of your top tube.
After receiving the picture(s) and measurement of your bike, we can finally discuss what you are looking for. We would love to understand what you have in mind and what you want to use the bag for. That way, we can think along with you to tailor your perfect bag!
Please note, the speed of this process depends entirely on you. We put a lot of time and energy in design, both esthetical and engineerical design. We want the next bag to be better than the previous one.
Finally, we have an idea on what you are looking for. To make sure there is no confusions or miscommunication, we do one more summary of the measurements, fabrics and specific features. During all the phases, we check and confirm up to 20 times to make sure we are both on the same line. Also, it is possible to have phone contact if you wish to maintain 100% control on the production process.
If we agree on the final design, we will do our magic and you can expect a beautiful surprise in front of the door before you know it!
Cordura 1000 D
Cordura 1000D is a waterproof fabric that is incredibly strong with a high abrasion resistance. The unit for the thickness of Cordura fabrics is expressed in 'den'.
For example, I use Cordura 1000den for the Belt (contact surface with the frame). In general, this is more than enough for normal use. Other applications for Cordura fabrics can often be found in military clothing, motorcycle clothing and various backpacking backpacks.
X-PAC (A.K.A. VX-21) is a stack of a waterproof polyethylene plastic that is reinforced with an X-Mesh. This also explains that X-Pac is characterized by the X-pattern in the fabric. Compared to Cordura, X-Pac is slightly stronger and more robust with a relatively higher abrasion resistance. In addition, X-Pac is also lighter compared to Ripstop nylon. For this reason, X-Pac is the industry standard in the Bikepacking / Outdoor community.
We personally think that X-Pac lasts longer and is a better investment for the long term. Another big advantage is that there is a larger range of colors than Cordura Ripstop! So that is another good reason for many people to opt for X-Pac.
Dyneema (Cuben Fiber)
Full Dyneema is the most premium option that we offer. It is also by far the lightest and thinnest fabric. For comparison with Cordura Ripstop and Dyneema Reinforced, these Ripstop fabrics are approximately 200 grams per m2 while full Dyneema is only 100 grams per m2. Unless you plan to drag the frame bag behind your bike during your adventure, I discourage Full Dyneema for regular use. For our products, we only use premium material from reliable suppliers. Our X-PAC is imported from the United States and the color options might change over time due to availability. However, we try to provide as much variety as possible. Sometimes, we have some unique and limited options. Please, ask us and maybe you will be lucky.
